Loft Concerts has been shaping Berlin’s live music scene for more than forty years. In 1982, Monika Döring founded the “Loft” club in what is now the Metropol at Nollendorfplatz – a place defined by both taste and conviction. Punk, avant-garde, and alternative artists found a stage here, many of whom would later go on to become internationally renowned. Numerous international acts played their first Berlin shows at the Loft, including Einstürzende Neubauten, Die Ärzte, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sonic Youth, Björk, Nick Cave, Nirvana, and many more.
Today, Loft is a company with more than twenty employees, organising around 250 concerts each year. Over the years, it has continuously expanded its profile and expertise, developed new locations, and today actively contributes to processes of change within the live music industry. Loft advises organisations, venues, and tours of all sizes and works with its network to initiate pioneering projects such as “Labor Tempelhof.”
Throughout the decades, three things have remained constant: a passion for music, independence – and a commitment to taking a stand.
